Installment from May 2010:
Fluorite is one of my personal favorites. This mineral grows in hydrothermal veins and around hot springs. Fairly commonly, you will find excellent rough specimens in their original cubed shapes. The colors found in Rainbow Fluorite include violet, purple, indigo, blue, aqua, green, yellowish-orange, pinkish, and very dark to black and even clear colors in it. I love to find pieces, whether they are beads or collectibles, that have three or more colors in them - - very powerful.
Calcium Fluoride is a fairly basic mineral and is found on almost every continent; however, some of the largest crystals are found in the United States. Fluorite has a long history, having been found in ancient sites and tombs, as talismen, jewelry, decorations, scarabs, vases, cups, etc. It's been used at different times and by many peoples as a healing elixir, a protective object, and a precious gemstone. Today, Fluorite is used, among many other things, in high-powered telescopes and camera lens, because it allows extremely crisp images - - more clear than ordinary glass.
This brings me to the metaphor that I hope you will consider: clarity, clearing, clarifying. The concept of Clarity exactly describes the metaphysical importance of Fluorite. Everything from clear thinking to bringing you in touch with your intuition (and understanding its message), from being practical in the moment to being able to see the larger picture, from meditation to action . . . Fluorite is the stone to wear and have around you for clarity and order in your life.
For a few years now, I have sensed in focused meditations and in working so closely with it that Fluorite is THE stone of this New Age, appropriate above all other single stones for this exact time in our history. I believe that Fluorite is the stone that we should all have around us as we seek any kind of universal wisdom, spirituality, or direction. To that end, I use quite a bit of Fluorite in our jewelry. You will find, specifically, a Clarity bracelet, a New Age bracelet, another Fluorite jewelry set, and several different Fluorite pieces in our Carved and Rough section. Rainwater Designs will always have Fluorite!
I hope that you will consider wearing or carrying Fluorite on a regular basis. Here's to some clarity amidst the chaos!
Installment from April 2010:
Mercury is Retrograde, appearing to move backward, 2-3 times a year -- our next one begins Sunday, April 18, and will continue through May 11.
Mercury Rules Gemini and Virgo; the Third House of communication, daily travel, relatives and neighborhood relationships, self-expression; and the Sixth House of employment, service, health.
Its meaning in astrological terms: planet of mental activities, communication, and intellectual energy; governs perception, reasoning, memory, speaking, writing, contracts, commerce, day-to-day travel, and modes of transportation; adaptability and versatility.
So, you can see why Retrograde might have far-reaching implications!
Here are some things you might want to plan for or do, during the next few weeks ….
This is not a time to begin something new or to buy anything electronic – just wait until late May. Spend the time, now, doing research, thinking through what you want, planning, etc. If you do buy electronics, be prepared to either have to take it back or pay to get it fixed!
Communications may go awry, so recheck everything, choose your words carefully, and listen closely when someone important to you is trying to tell you something.
Hopefully, you had a chance to back up your computer, before Retrograde began, but if not, do it now! Do all manner of preventive maintenance around your house, too.
If your computer breaks down during the next few weeks, try to just hold off getting it fixed until May 15th or so.
Try to mail important paperwork or bills early – don’t wait until the last minute.
This is not a time to sign any important document, so try to put it off until May 15th. I learned this the hard way by signing a lease during Retrograde several years ago – I was never happy, so many things went wrong, the owner was so uncooperative, and of course we didn’t stay there long … a very costly mistake!
Be patient when your cell doesn’t have a signal! And if the cable goes out, read a book!
If you try to make big decisions over the next few weeks, you may have to change them later, or you may just feel very indecisive, to begin with. So, use this time to think through options, plan your steps, and discuss the implications with friends. Wait until mid-May to actually make the decision.
More patience is needed in travel … give yourself plenty of time to get somewhere, have a plan B if you must fly somewhere (and carry a change of clothes with you!).
This is not the greatest time for medical and dental appointments, either. You always want your physician thinking clearly and you want to be heard and to hear clearly, so postpone any visits until the last half of May. If you must have a procedure done during this Retrograde period, email me, and I'll try to give you some suggestions for your particular situation.
On the other hand, this is a great time to do the following!
- review all kinds of things, including where you are in life
- reconnect with old friends or with past ideas that you haven’t thought about in a while
- revisit past decisions or jobs
- clean up relationships and simply forgive
- take some private time to assimilate all that has happened to you and around you over the last several months
- tie up loose ends of all kinds
I always see Mercury Retrograde as a wonderful time to be somewhat introspective and to sort of get my “house” in order. Cleaning, planning, researching, reconnecting with myself and others, looking forward in some ways, too.
I hope that this helps and that you have a terrific Retrograde!!!
